Story

Thanks for supporting my fundraising.

My brother passed away Christmas time from Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

In the last few days of his life we didn’t know which way to turn to help Glenn and really didn’t know what to expect when his health rapidly went from bad to worse.

Contacting Macmillan was initially a stab in the dark at maybe getting at least some sort of advice and maybe a little help.

How wrong we were!

Helen turned up straight away to assess Glenn and to talk to us all about what she and the team could do to help. Bear in mind this was Christmas Eve when everyone and everything was shutting down for the Christmas period but within a few hours we had a van load of equipment delivered and set up, electric bed, wheel chair, walking frames etc etc, medication for pain relief, 24/7 phone support,, Boxing Day emergency prescription service and phone calls daily to see how Glenn was and how we were coping.  Helen also organised a room for Glenn at St Michael’s Hospice if we felt the need if Glenn needed more help.

I have never experienced a more professional but caring and compassionate organisation in my life and didn’t see Glenn as just a number.

I must be honest I’ve never supported charities before but as you can see Macmillan are an amazing charity and I will be doing whatever I can to support them to do what they do best and to be able to carry on and help others in the future.

Thank you Helen and team at Macmillan.

26 miles here we come!
