We provide equipment and fund projects in mental health, learning disability & community health services, over & above what is funded by the NHS. We care for people at all stages of their life, in their own homes, in the community & as inpatients in our community hospitals and units.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Brighton Marathon on April 19th this year to raise funds to help purchase equipment at Mill Lodge to help further improve the experiences and care people whom have Huntington’s Disease receive. This is a charity close to my heart as I am currently working as  a Nurse at Mill Lodge. Huntington’s Disease is a condition that stops part of the brain working properly over time and it’s passed on (inherited) from a person’s parents. It gradually gets worse over time and it’s usually fatal after a period of 20 years. The symptoms usually start at 30 to 50 years of age but can begin much earlier or later.

Symptoms of Huntington’s Disease or HD can include:

Difficulty concentrating and memory lapses

Depression

Stumbling and clumsiness/increased risk of falls

Involuntary jerking or fidgety movements of the limbs and body

Mood swings and personality changes

Problems swallowing, speaking and breathing

Difficulty moving
