Story
Hello. My name is Marley and I have just turnt 16 years old. I am raising money for the charity CAMHS.
In July 2020 I sadly lost my mother to suicide. I was only 13 at the time and was the first on the scene when this happened. As you can imagine, this caused me alot of stress and emotional turmoil. I then realised with the help of my father and stepmum I was struggling silently in the aftermath, trying to stay strong for my family especially my younger sister. I struggled to come to terms with what had happened and accept it. I became very isolated.
My stepmother saw my struggle and could see through my act and decided to act on it taking me to hospital where the hospital got CAMHS involved. CAMHS helped me figure out how I was feeling and how best to help me come to terms with my grief. 2 years on and they are still helping me. Without my family and CAMHS I don’t know where I would be today. I was one of the lucky few who have a loving father, stepmother and family who made sure I got the help I needed, but unfortunately not everyone is so lucky. My aim is to raise money for children in my situation that may not have families, some are either in care or refugees and for them to have as good as can be Christmas.
So In honour of my mother who would be so thankful for the help I have been gifted, I am doing a sky dive in October to raise money in the hope I can in turn help others see the light at the end of the tunnel and support such a wonderful and not widely known charity continue their work. So please if you can donate anything you can afford every penny helps and will be much appreciated by myself, my family and mostly CAMHS.
Thank you for your support.
Marley
