Story
While living in Bucharest, I joined the board of "Hospice Casa Sperantei". Founded in 1992, it was the first Romanian charity dedicated to improving care of terminally ill patients and their families. The board's main project at the time was to build the first hospice in the capital of Romania.
One of my contributions to raise funds was running my first half marathon in 2009. The first marathon followed shortly after and I still remember my thoughts when crossing the finish line - "never again". A leg massage and a good night's sleep changed this to "after the marathon is before the marathon" and I have continued running ever since.
The 100km Run of Biel is my greatest challenge yet and I would like to dedicate this race to the roots of my "running career" - Hospice Casa Sperantei.
