Garreth Wood; the owner of the award winning Speratus Group has set the team a challenge for 2013...
A small matter of reaching the summit of Africa’s highest mountain;Mount Kilimanjaro in just 7 days whilst raising money for local grass root charities in Edinburgh & Aberdeen!
6 staff from across the company won the opportunity to take part in this years challenge: Martin Brown, Jane Mackay, Samantha Golding, Ana Norrie, Jonathan Taylor & Jeremy Mitchell.
13th-21st October 2013 the team will set off over 7 days on the Machame route (nickname 'The Whisky route' although no whisky will be available on this occasion!) They will pass through 5 diverse climatic zones with stunning views finally arriving at Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice field.
The team will be climbing to the summit during the night starting at 11.30pm and reaching the rooftop of Africa to enjoy the spectacular sunrise 6-7 hours later!
Each team member has been set a target of £2500 each. Whether through personal donations or events, the team is hoping to raise £15,000!
To help them reach their targets;
The Golf Tavern in Edinburgh will be hosting various events to raise money whether its a Kilimanjaro Pale Ale Pint (50p donated for every pint sold) to Man vs food competition Samantha & Ana are bringing the locals in to raise money for charity!
Both of our units in Aberdeen are also holding fundraising events!
Paramount team member Jonathan is hosting an event on 16th August 5-8pm! Raffles, buffet, silent auction to name a few! Tickets are £20 per person!
The Illicit Still team member Jeremy is to host various charity raffles over the next 2 months! Heaps of prizes to be won so make sure you pop in for a pint!

Garvald Edinburgh: Garvald Edinburgh is a Scottish Charity offering creative opportunities and support for people with learning disabilities. Situated within the local community near to the Golf Tavern the funds raised will make a huge difference to a very much loved local grass root charity.

Kayleigh's Wee Stars:
Kayleigh's Wee Stars is a charity based in Aberdeenshire. It was established to provide financial support for families where a child has a terminal illness. Kayleigh’s Wee Stars can provide financial support to assist families whose children have been given a terminal diagnosis. The money that we raise will be used to fund trips and adventures, or simply help take the financial strain off families who need to provide care for their children.
