As part of the Footsteps Flyers Team I will be competing in the 12hr Cyclothon being held at the world famous Brands Hatch motor racing circuit on the 11 September 2014. We will be attempting to complete as many laps as possible of the 2.3 mile circuit in the 12hrs. This will be a true challenge for all taking part but is being undertaken to try to raise as much money and awareness of the amazing work being carried out by Abigails Footsteps charity.

 Abigail’s Footsteps was established in 2010 following the still birth of baby Abigail Rosie-Ann Ward to parents David and Jo and in 2013 became a registered charity with the Charity Commission. Since its inception, Abigail’s Footsteps has raised thousands in donations and has continued to hold fundraising events ever since. 

 The four main objectives of Abigail’s Footsteps are:

 •The availability of “cold cots” in all maternity units and research into a more cost efficient supply chain.

•The creation in all maternity hospitals of Bereavement Suites, located wherever possible, away from the maternity wards.

•Mandatory training and education in bereavement counselling for all midwives

•Research, information and campaigning so as to create a lasting legacy from the Ward’s own experience in facing unexpected bereavement and the consequential sequence of events.
