Martin's 1,600 mile Challenge for 2021 · 3 September 2021

As the leading Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) charity in the UK, we want to find effective treatments for DMD and end its devastating impact. We’re going further than anyone has before, and we’re doing it faster, because this generation of people living with DMD can’t wait.

Story

In January I started running during Covid Lockdown and gave myself a challenge of running 1,000 miles (walking is forbidden) during 2021 . As the miles ticked by I decided why not stretch myself and make a difference for a fantastic charity. So having just passed 1,000 in August I am pushing on and trying to get to 1,600 miles (equivalent of 61 marathons in one year).

This is my work (ResMed's) nominated charity for this fiscal year so any donations will be kindly supplemented by them.

So every penny will go a long way (no matter how big or how small).

Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys. Started by families affected by the disease, Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development. Together, we will end Duchenne.
