Unfortunately almost a year ago a good friend of mine, Ashley Barrows, lost his father to cancer. I was only lucky enough to meet Bernie a few times but it was still obvious to me that he was a gentleman and a scholar. After knowing me for 5 minutes he took an interest in my career and gave me advice on my future. Regular people just don't take an interest in other peoples lives like that.

Although Bernie lost his valiant fight against cancer he lived for adventure and the outdoors even whilst he was terminally ill. It is in memory of this spirit that we completed the Yorkshire three peaks challenge for cancer research UK.
