For Moldova to receive almost 100,000 refugees when their population is only 2.6 million people is a very extreme challenge, especially as they are one of the poorest countries in Europe.

Story

After a successful pilot mission to Lipova in Romania last month with the help of Cynthia and Martin Bullpitt, Mark Crook and others, we would like to do the trip again, bringing desperately needed aid to refugees living along the border of Ukraine and Romania.

As we prepared last time, we were put in touch with Pastor Ion in Romania who arranges for aid to be driven into Ukraine to reach refugees who do not want to leave their country so are forced to live along a 15 mile corridor by the Romanian border, as far from Russian soldiers as possible. Mark and I drove the aid to Pastor Ion in Romania and he got it to a Refugee Centre in Cernauti in Ukraine.

We were blown away by the response last time as people collected aid and dropped it to our houses. I want to say a special thanks to Cynthia and Martin Bullpitt for their expertise in collecting and preparing aid for shipment, and also to Mark Crook for sharing the organisation and the driving last time - we covered 27,000 miles.

I am planning again, on behalf of Mission Direct, to repeat this journey two more times. Once towards the end of May and again in June and I am hoping to raise £3100 covering fuel, van hire and accommodation to get more aid directly to the families sheltering in their own homeland away from the fighting (although I wont go into Ukraine myself).

Although Mission Direct is supporting our efforts, we want to fundraise to cover the costs of the van, fuel, channel crossing and food, as much as possible so that more charity money goes directly to the refugees. If you donate on this page, the funds will support our efforts to get aid where it is needed. If there is anything left over, it will either fund future van-loads or be added to Mission Direct's general appeal to help the Ukrainian refugees.

One of the benefits of donating on here is that gift aid can be added to your donation, if you are a tax-payer. This would mean that a £10 donation would become £12.50 with the gift aid.

Mission Direct will retain 6% of the overall amount raised. This will help them cover their costs as they work hard to coordinate support for the refugees.

Thank you for your support.
