Bury Tandem Club is a club for people who love cycling. Where it is different from other cycling clubs is that it provides opportunities for blind and partially sighted riders to ride as the stoker/rear rider on a bicycle made for two (or possibly three). Stokers frequently refer to the weekly 40-60 mile Sunday morning rides as life-changing, making an enormous positive difference to their physical and mental health. The Club has been in existence for 37 years and with your help we'd like to see it around for at least another 37!
Maintaining a fleet of tandems costs about £10,000pa with the largest expenses being mechanic's costs, spare parts and insurance. The annual sponsored ride is one of the ways we raise the funds needed to keep the Club going.
