Thank you all so much for taking the time to take part or donate to Martin House Children's Hospice.

Martin House is a charity that supported myself and my family at a time we were all at our most vulnerable. Our son Jack Edward Firth was a beautiful little boy when he was born, however our joy was to turn to pain when we found out he had an Illness called SMA type 1. We had never heard of this but very quickly became experts as it was going to change our lives for ever. This Illness didn't effect his looks and you wouldn't have know he was Ill looking at him, but he was very Ill indeed. We were told their was no cure and it would be unlikely he would make it to his first birthday :-(

I cannot explain what it is like to look in to your child's eyes knowing they are going to die and their isn't anything you can do about it, for us as mum and dad, grandparents, brothers, sisters family and friends all you can do is pray a cure will come, I would not wish that on anyone.

What I can say with all my heart is that because of Jack I live my life very differently, it is now geared more towards helping others as I learned very quickly all that I loved and all that I took for granted could be taken away.

I now have 12 Year old twins Lauren and Leo who In my eyes are miracle children as they could have both had the same Illness their brother had, but are gorgeous successful and "healthy". They have also helped with lots of fund raising over the years with big sister Shauna and their mum Karen, Jack would be proud.

Since that sad time I have been part of Stars Social support, helping adults and children with physical and learning disabilities.

I changed career and as well as Stars I trained with LDC to become a driving Instructor, then became a trainer of Instructors, and also for the last 8 years my son Leo has played in a football team called Junior Tykes which I have coached sponsored and supported. Most of the current team also play in Barnsley school boys. We have a group of very talented players and am very proud to have been part of that journey with them.

All of this positive change is thanks to Jack as he has made me see what is important in my life

I have decided that as a driving instructor and Trainer for LDC Learner Driving Centre that I would arrange a driving experience as a joint venture for Junior Tykes and Barnsley boys. The venue is to be held at Norton Lightwood Sheffield under 17s training complex on 23rd May 2018 5-7pm and I have been very lucky to have the support from them as they have allowed us to use that free of charge. I also have LDC driving instructors to help support me and take these boys out in their own cars free of charge.

Their are no linked costs involved and all money raised will go directly to Martin House.

Lets help put a little back and help support families and their children with life limiting illness.

Thank you to all the boys at Barnsley School Boys and Junior Tykes and all the parents family and friends offering their support

And thank you to all our Instructors at LDC

Have fun driving

Kind Regards

Martin Firth
