Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

There can’t be many spots in our garden at Dragonflies that haven’t
been enriched by a plant or shrub from the brilliant Rapkyns nursery.
Located near Mayfield on the Kent / Sussex border, Sarah and I have been visiting this idyllic cottage garden nursery for over 10 years and we rarely come back empty handed. A little over a year ago, Steven Moore, the wonderful plantsman who runs Rapkyns with his partner Morag, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease

MND affects around 5000 people in the UK at any one time and is a fatal disease affecting brain and spinal cord. A third of those diagnosed die within one year, half within 2.

Visiting the nursery recently and seeing Steven chair bound and struggling with speech but somehow still smiling generated mixed emotions on my part. A firm believer it is better to get active than angry, I took the decision to take on the Thames Path Challenge and raise money for MNDA. Running and walking 62 miles in one go will be nothing compared to the challenge that Steven, Morag and the team of helpers at Rapkyns go through daily. Thank you for your support whether that is donating or just cheering me on my way.
