Trek to Petra · 4 November 2023 to 11 November 2023 ·

As part of their partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), this November MSMG are supporting CALM in their movement against suicide, the cause of death for 125 people every week in the UK, by hiking the Cambodian hills.

Story

*UPDATE* Due to the situation in the Middle East, the decision was made to move the trek for security reasons.

Whilst the initial cancellation was a blow to my colleagues and I, we’re happy we can continue with the fundraising for CALM, but now with a trek through the Cambodian jungle from Siem Reap to Angkor Wat!

The new trek will cover 94km (up from 75km!) over 5 days, with 4 nights camping in the jungle!

Thank you all for your support, it means a lot to me, the trek team and CALM.

As part of Moneysupermarket Group, I am supporting the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) who are taking a stand against suicide.

I’m embracing two things well outside my comfort zone (long walks and camping) by I’ve signing up to trek through the desert in Jordan to Petra with 39 colleagues in November.

Given my average daily step count is 8,000 and I’ll be doing 21,000 a day, and the last time I camped I categorically stated I would never do it again, this will be quite the personal challenge.

But it’s for a good cause. I’m teaming up with 39 colleagues to raise money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), who do some amazing work to help those struggling, particularly with suicidal thoughts.

It’s an uneasy topic, one close to my heart as I’ve had close friends, family and colleagues deal with suicidal thoughts and sadly, not all of them are still with us. 125 lives are lost every week to suicide. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exist to help change this.

I know times are hard, but if you sponsor me you’ll not only be doing something amazing for charity, you’ll also be paying to make the inevitable world of pain worth it. Please donate whatever you can towards this fantastic cause.

CALM’s work focuses on standing against feeling rubbish, standing up to stereotypes, and standing together to show life is always worth living.125 lives are lost every week to suicide. CALM exists to change this.CALM do it by provoking conversation, running life-saving services, and bringing people together so they reject living miserably, get help when they need it and don't die by suicide.Just £8 could answer a potentially life saving call or webchat.
