Thank you for visiting my Icelandic Wilderness Trek fundraising page.
Jack (my younger son) and I have arranged to spend 5 days trekking across part of Iceland.
We will be fording rivers and walking across a barren volcanic landscape of contrasts. From the cold of ice and snow to the warmth of hot springs and geysers. From the bleak uninhabited landscape of volcanic ash and rock to a secret wooded valley where a hidden birch forest and lovely arctic flowers bloom for only a few weeks each summer.
Our last day is the hardest and longest, with a climb up to 1116 metres, (3661 feet) to cross the Fimmvorduhals Pass between 2 glacier covered volcanoes.
We will be spending each night in a tent - so there are no luxuries on this trip.
Jack was born with cystic fibrosis and would like to take this opportunity not only to thank the Trust for all their help and support, but to feel that he is giving something back. He would also like to show everyone (including fellow sufferers) that living with C.F. doesn't mean that you can't do some things, if you really want to.
We are trying to raise as much money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust that we can. It is a very worthy charity, which (although it does such a fantastic job), unfortunately goes largely unnoticed.
If you would like to know more about the work of the C.F.Trust.- just follow the link to it's home page www.cftrust.org
Please dig as deep as you can and sponsor us online.
I have used my own money to pay for our trek, so I can promise you that 100% of your very kind donation will go straight to the C.F. Trust.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: the Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
Martin and Jack.
