Christine's Paisley 10k

Paisley 10k · 25 August 2013
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Matthew has Nystagmus (an involuntary movement of the eyes) making him partially sighted. Since we adopted Matthew, we have had lots of support and advice from the RNIB. Martin (Matthew's dad) & Stephen (his Godfather) have been training hard for the last few months and are running the Paisley 10K on 25th August.
The RNIB runs fun days/weekends (weeks away - for teenagers - to promote independent living) for children & their families with a visual impairment - this includes children who are completely blind. Some of these children also have many other complex needs. The fun days and weekends/weeks let these children mix in a safe environment to learn new skills. Many of the events have seminars at which parents can get together to discuss any issues which they have and receive advice & help from each other as well as the organisation and other outside agencies. While these seminars are taking place, the children are being well looked after by a happy band of volunteers - some of whom are also visually impaired/blind. The Education & Family Services Manager himself is registered blind. He is very knowledgeable and approachable.
Any money Martin & Stephen raise by running the 10K is going directly to the Education & Family Services based here is Scotland.
Any donations - however small - will be greatly appreciated. If you are a taxpayer, please remember to gift aid it as the charity receives tax back at no extra cost to yourself.
Thanks to you all in anticipation.
