Story

Hi everybody, thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My brother-in-law David and I ran the London 10k on Sunday 27th May. Boy, it was hot but it was worth it because we're raising funds towards Salvation Army-led health and music projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

For three years my church - Sydenham Salvation Army - has already raised in excess of £10,000 towards the construction of a medical centre and in August 2012 I get to fly out to the Congo and open the medical centre.

On top of that I will be joining two more Salvationists from the UK in leading a ten-day music school for children in the DRC.

We've obtained 20 brass instruments and will shortly ship these, along with a whole host of equipment to help the school, medical centre and the work of The SA generally, including:

105 T-shirts
80 rugby and football shirts
6 footballs
6 mini rugby balls
30 mouthpieces for brass instruments
drum strap, sticks and key
15 mosquito nets
29 Bibles
1 set of 25 SA Band Tune Books (from Belfast Temple SA)
110 filled pencil cases
1 laptop computer
2 PCs
woollen clothing (from Leeds Central SA)
6 trophies
110 medals with ribbons

Perhaps you'd consider chipping-in a small amount to help us with this amazing project? I promise to post some a blog about the trip later in the year.

Thanks in advance & God bless,

Martin
