2017 will hold TWO MAJOR CHALLENGES for me.  Firstly, on 23rd April I will be painting myself purple, donning my fairy wings and tutu and running the Virgin London Marathon again as "The Purple Fairy", granting wishes for kids (get it!).  This will be my 10th year in a row running for Wishes 4 Kids.

However, the BIGGEST challenge come on 23rd September when I will be competing in the Equinox 24 race.  For those of you that don't know what this is, it is a 24 HOUR RACE.  I will be aiming to run over 200km in the 24 hours.  That is around 125 miles.

For doing these, I am looking to raise at least £1,000 for Wishes 4 Kids and that is the most important thing.

So, for anyone who doesn't know why I am doing this again then please take a seat and read on.......

I was widowed in November 2004 when Laura was knocked down and killed by a dangerous driver.  In my late wife's name, Wishes 4 Kids were kind enough to start  fund so that we could continue to raise money in Laura's name.  This is the "Laura Hulbert Fund for Wishes 4 Kids".  This will be the 10th London Marathon in a row I will have run for Wishes 4 Kids.

Wishes 4 Kids was created to grant a wish for children and youngsters in Leicestershire who are life limited, terminally ill, have experienced life-changing physical or emotional traumas, have suffered major abuse or are diagnosed as HIV Positive.  The Charity grants wishes for those of eighteen years of age and below.

Wishes 4 Kids has already granted hundreds of wishes for local children.

Sadly, there is no magical cure for the suffering of these youngsters, however, we can all help bring a short period of respite.  The time wen a child has a wish granted is a moment that will be treasured by them for the rest of their life.  It is also a time which parents will remember - that time when their child forgot the suffering.

So come on everyone.....give a little, give a lot; but make a difference to a child's life!
