Story
We are Martin and Sheila Wilson, married some 48 years and were blessed with three children, Paul, Lynne and Rick.
Paul, our eldest, married Sarah and they have four beautiful daughters. At the age of 41 Paul was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. From the outset Paul was totally determined to beat his cancer and fought bravely for all he was worth to overcome his illness. He suffered set back after set back and after a period of some 16 months he sadly passed away in May 2017. At the time of Paul's passing, Poppy their eldest daughter, was 9, Annabelle 8, Holly 6 and Georgie only 22 months old. Sarah was put in touch with Daisy's Dream, a charity providing counselling and support for children and families who have been affected by life threatening illness or bereavement of someone close to them. Berkshire based and receiving no money from either central government or from local authorities, they rely on donations to help raise the £400,000+ per year it costs to support the hundreds of children who access their service. Daisy's Dream has played a major role in the lives of Sarah and the girls and has helped them come to terms with their loss. To this day the charity continues to offer support to Sarah and the girls and will do so for as long as they feel they need it. As Sarah feels so strongly about the positive impact that Daisy's Dream has had on her family, she has taken it upon herself to raise as much money as she can and since Paul died £40,000 has been raised.
The fund raising that both Sarah and Lynne are determined to continue this year has led to the organising of a mass Sky Dive of 20 volunteers from 15,000 feet on 24th March 2019. Martin has volunteered to jump and will be the oldest participant by a considerable amount! The jump is to be held on the day before his 71st birthday.
We are so grateful for the support that our family and friends have already shown by giving most generously to this cause that is very close to our hearts. If you feel able to support us again, no matter the amount, it really would be most appreciated. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
