Story
Starting at 6am, we are attempting to play 72 holes at King James VI Golf Club before sunset to raise funds for The Becky Punton Fund and Sarcoma UK.
The challenge will require us to walk approximately 20 miles, hit several hundred shots each and will probably result in several lost golf balls! Despite being keen golfers neither of us has got remotely close to playing this number of holes in one day before.
Our friend Becky was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma in February 2019. She endured 6 months of chemotherapy and major surgery to remove the tumour, but despite the incredible efforts of her team at The Beatson WSCC and Glasgow Royal Infirmary, the cancer reoccurred, and she passed away in October 2019 aged 28. Becky’s grace and positivity throughout her treatment were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
After this devastating loss, Becky’s family hope her legacy can be to bring their community together to raise funds for the vital work of Sarcoma UK. Like so many sarcoma patients, Becky experienced difficulty obtaining a diagnosis, showing the importance of raising awareness. Sarcoma UK’s contribution to research will also enable the advancement of treatments and options for patients in the future.
Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting me, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care. Thank you for your support.
Any sponsors or donations would be greatly appreciated.
