Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. In February 2009 I'm going to try to get to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest free-standing mountain in the world (19,340 feet).
There's a mix of motives for this endeavour - it's probably partly a response to a significant birthday, an assertion of my continuing vitality. It's a search for adventure, and winter sunshine. But it's also a way of raising money for a charity that does a lot of good work among some of Africa's poorest urban communities - FOGADD (Friends of Grahmstown and District Development), see the notes on this page and the website www.fogadd.org.uk .
To give an idea of how far your contribution will go, my target would be just about enough to sponsor a deserving child through two years of schooling.
Anything you give goes straight to the charity (I'm paying all my own expenses), and as the charity has minimal overheads, you can be sure that almost all of your donation reaches the people who need it.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Friends of Grahamstown and district development (FOGADD) gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
