Story

Martin Bramwell from Northampton will be putting his best foot forward in September when he takes part in the Milton Keynes Marathon to raise money for Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF).

Dad of two, Martin, will be pounding the pavements as part of this self-guided, socially distanced race which features advanced GPS timing technology with built-in turn-by-turn voice navigation for round-the-clock service from 6–19 September, ensuring runners are kept to a minimum. Each runner’s GPS guided route data will be checked and approved before updating to the leader board.

Based in Surrey, QEF provides expert advice and life-changing services to more than 6,000 disabled children and adults every year, enabling people to develop key life skills, increase mobility and maximise their independence. Martin, 47, said:QEF is our chosen charity for the company I work for, Select Surveys, and before Covid hit we had lots of fundraising events planned but that has since proven difficult due to the social distancing rules.  wanted to do something myself to raise some money as I know the charity has faced a hard time financially.“I’ve been training by running around 35 miles a week and anything from half marathon to 20 miles on a Sunday, so I have really been putting my all into this.  only recently started running properly again and as this is my first marathon and first organised event.
