I want to  raise funds to support research into Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (I'm fundraising for ME, not "me"! ), because it's a poorly understood, highly debilitating medical condition that affects millions worldwide and receives very little government funding.

It's a cause close to my heart, since my sister Ruth has suffered from it for many years, and so too has a close family friend Emily, who grew up with our kids. They're both amazingly talented people and are doing their bit, so I thought that I should also contribute.

I'm fortunate that my employer, Cadence Design Systems runs a donation matching scheme that will contribute up to an additional $1,000 - as well as giving "Volunteer Time" off work to do the event itself. Thumbs up for this enlightened approach!
