Story

One small km for you, One giant leap for all mankind :)

🚶🚶🚶👣

Insaaf have been working with refugees across the world delivering much-needed aid to the most vulnerable. By taking part in this Challenge, we are hoping to raise vital funds for our ongoing projects including for refugees in Lesvos and the Rohingya community in Bangladesh.

£13 buys a food bag for a family for a week.

My fundraising target was £300, I've raised it to £500 in hopes that we might get there together: Update on day 6: we got there :)! I've stretched to 650 because that would mean 50 families inshaAllah. .... We met that and then met the 100 family mark (1300). Alhamdulillah and then the 200. :) We are now hoping to reach as many as possible. I have also passed the 30km mark and kept walking... Not quite like forest gump but maybe one day :)

Donations are Zakat eligible with a 100% donation policy.

I met the insaaf team at a small dinner event nearly 4 years ago and was humbled by their efforts to go beyond their comfort zone, to give up their time and money to do something for others. I have visited refugee camps with INSAAF and seen first hand the day to day struggles refugees face. I know that you have clicked because you want to help so here are some suggestions:

1) donate to the cause - start as low as you can and go as high as you wish.

2) if you want to join us and create your own fundraising page then register here and you will receive joining instructions: http://Insaaf-ramadan2021.eventbrite.co.uk

3) spread the message - there are refugees who are going through rough times and they are humans who we can help. Find out their stories.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INSAAF is entirely made of volunteers from the UK, intent on making the most impact from our modest contribution. We want to raise awareness of the refugee issue, and thanks to your donations, bring help directly to those who need it most.

INSAAF started as an informal group of friends in December 2015, right in the middle of the Syrian refugee crisis in Europe. As images of thousands of refugees crossing the sea and trekking accross Europe were mass broadcast on TV and in newspapers, we had to act and do something about it. Thanks to friends, colleagues and family, we raised £8000 in three weeks to fund a first convoy to the refugee camp of Dunkirk in France, where over a thousand people lived in dire conditions in the middle of winter. We brought them tents, firewood, warm boots and other much needed essentials.

Since then, INSAAF has grown and is now a Registered Charity. We have travelled back to France on many occasions and much further afield to places in Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, and Bangladesh, supporting Syrian and Rohingya refugees. We have learned more about the people who had to leave everything behind and have heard their stories. With your help we want to continue going to them with whatever help and comfort we can offer. It is our duty, their right.
