Story
My mother was diagnosed with advanced metastatic breast cancer when she was only 42 years of age. She underwent treatment which included a combination of chemotherapy and radical surgery. She was a survivor, enjoying 16 years of remission. This was a massive win but also brought consequences. Over the next 16 years she constantly faced continuing obstacles due to adverse effects of chemotherapy. Heart failure, early onset menopause, and mental struggles to name a few. This was the price she had to accept for life, she never once complained or expressed self pity. She was grateful for her ability to live and enjoy what so many others had lost.
The Cancer returned 16 years after remission. My mother opted for palliative care and was given a prognosis of 12 months of life. We enjoyed 18 months. She died on May 29th, the day before her 60th Birthday.
This year marks the 10th year since my Mother's passing. I am raising money to support and help others that are sadly affected with the same battle my mother and my family experienced. I hope this money will fund research to create better treatments for this disease and aid the families affected. My story, sadly, is similar to so many others.
