My son Sam age 23

died in Aug 2015 by suicide. I started running shortly after in October 2015 to help me cope with the unbearable  pain of grief . Running has helped me so much and I have made some fantastic running friends along the way ( both local and virtual ) . I was particularly supported at parkrun in those early days.

I am going to run Liverpool Rock and Roll half marathon on 24/10/21 as it is close to Sam’s birthday. It would have been a special birthday as he would have turned 30 on 22/10/21  .

I want to raise money for CALM as they are dedicated to preventing male suicide .. The biggest single killer of men aged 20 to 45.

I want this journey to follow on from my previous running adventures ( pre pandemic )    and I hope  to continue  to raise money and awareness and get people talking about suicide and reduce the stigma so other families don’t have to go through this trauma.
