Story
Eleanor and I decided that this year we would fulfil an ambition of mine to complete a long walk and chose Hadrian's Wall path as a good one to start with. We set off on 11th May and plan to complete it over 8 days, stopping off en route and having our luggage taken for us between stops. Much of the walk will be during Christian Aid week, so it seemed appropriate to use our walk as an opportunity to raise funds for this charity. There are so many people in need, some close at home in the UK, others in Ukraine, but also many are further afield and with long-standing difficulties. Christian Aid aims to support people in many of these areas, please see what they have to say below.
"For the first time in a generation, global poverty is rising. Covid-19, conflict, and the climate crisis are pushing more of our global neighbours into a struggle for survival. For Jessica, a loving mum in Zimbabwe drought means every day is a struggle for survival. Like many women, she toils on her farm, but no food can grow on her ashen dry land. She shares her heartbreak: 'My children crave a decent meal, but I can't provide. We often go to bed on an empty stomach. It pains me to send them to bed hungry.'By supporting my fundraising with whatever you can afford, together, we can make a real difference to families just like Jessica's. With support from Christian Aid partners Jessica can learn how to sow drought tolerant crops and how to grow food in dry seasons. She could build a storeroom to preserve food and bounce back from future droughts. Please give today, and help this loving mum provide food for her family. Thank you."
