Every year around  the world 287,000 women die in pregnancy and childbirth. That's 800 women a day: two every minute. Over 99 per cent of these deaths are in low income countries. These women need not suffer and die: most lives could be saved relatively easily and cheaply.

Maternity Worldwide works in low income countries to empower women and girls and enable them to access the high quality healthcare they need to give birth safely.
