Story
On the 23rd of April I'll be running the London Marathon as part of the Samaritans Team, and in support of our family charity, Beder.
Samaritans is a suicide prevention charity that offers invaluable support to those who are badly affected by poor mental health. They work to make sure there is always someone there for anyone who needs it.
Beder is a charity thats very close to my heart; in their unique approach to raising awareness around mental health and suicide prevention, they bring people together through events and communities and champion leaders in the world of mental health.
Both of these charities' work saves lives and genuinely makes this world a better place so there is no other cause I would want to raise money for. Just a few years ago, I was struggling to run even 3 kilometres so being able to have this opportunity to train for a marathon and run 42km for such amazing charities is a privilege.
I will be donating a minimum of £2,500 to the Samaritans, with the rest going to Beder. Not only are donations extremely welcome, I also want to welcome absolutely anyone to attend the day and experience the community spirit of the London Marathon.
Thank you for any support, and I hope to see you on race day!
Lots of love, Maryam
