Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year at Mary-Ann PT I have decided to make Willows Animal sanctuary our chosen charity.

Willows Animal Sanctuary is the largest sanctuary in Aberdeenshire and will try to help any animal in distress. They have been a Scottish charity since 1999 and have helped literally thousands of animals and birds during this time. They operate a strict no kill policy and only put an animal to sleep on veterinary advice. Willows now cares for over 400 animals including 100 equines, 60 cats and dogs, 200 farm animals and birds and many more small animals and reptiles. They will particularly try to help horses and ponies who would otherwise face slaughter.

Willow not only helps animals, but people as well. Willows helps many vulnerable people with its animal-assisted therapy (AAT) programme. Willows has run its AAT Programme for people with severe mental health difficulties, for over 17 years. The concept of allowing rescued animals to help vulnerable people on the road back to health is very innovative and has been independently evaluated and shown to be highly beneficial.

Animals are a cause very close to my heart,  they have no voice so we have to be the voice for them. So many of the big charities get such a lot of support, which is fantastic, but of course we mustn't forget the smaller ones that perhaps don't have the funding to advertise  or to get their message heard like the bigger ones do. Choosing an animal charity was a no-brainer, and if we can help humans in the process then this really is a win-win.

firmly believe that this charity does so much for both animals and humans that it deserves all the help and support that we can give it. Any donations however big or small are gratefully received and most welcome, from clients and friends and family.

Our fundraising will kick off with our annual client Christmas party dinner night on Saturday, 17 December at the Jamjar. Donations will be gladly received from then up to December next year.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for all your support!
