I am going to push my specially adapted mountain trike 16 miles along The South Downs on the 14th August along with help from my amazing team of friends, family and supporters.
We are doing this to raise funds for the Back Up Charity to help paralysed people, like me, to lead full and active lives.
Following my bicycle accident, I spent six months in a specialist spinal injury unit. I thought I would have to stay on tarmac for the rest of my days. With the help of Back Up’s wheelchair skill courses and showing me what is possible they quite literally helped me get off my bed and Back Up into the great outdoors.
In 2017 I pushed my wheelchair 100 miles from London to Brighton along a flat route. But now with my all-terrain mountain trike I am set to complete a challenging off-road route with steep sections along the South Downs.
My off-road mountain trike arrived one week before covid, and was purchased with the kind generosity of my friends, family and supporters. Its now time to put it to good use and raise funds for Back Up.
