Masthaven's Depaul Sleepout 2018 · 10 October 2018

Depaul UK is a national homelessness charity with a focus on young people. On a mission to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it, Depaul UK offers safe and supported accommodation, homelessness prevention initiatives, and programmes of support that lead to a brighter future.

Story

We're fundraising for Depaul UK, a youth homelessness charity providing housing and support to 16-25 year-olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Depaul UK believe that every young person deserves a home and a stake in their community, which is why they work tirelessly to provide the stability and support young people need to progress beyond homelessness.

In 2017, Depaul UK supported 3,763 young people who faced homelessness – empowering them to lead better, more independent lives.

This year, to raise vital funds for the emergency and preventative services they provide nationally, we'll be sleeping out at the Kia Oval on Wednesday 10th October.

What the Sleepout involves:

We'll be giving up our evenings and sleeping out, with many others, in the stands of The Kia Oval Cricket Ground, with nothing more than a sleeping bag and lots of layers!

What we're dreading:

The cold, being exposed to the elements and having very little privacy!

What we're looking forward to:

Developing a new level of empathy and compassion for those who do not know when they will next have a safe place to sleep

Hearing from Depaul staff about the work they’ve been doing and the young people they support through emergency and preventative services

Why we're sleeping out:

Although we'll be giving up our warm beds for just one night, we have the luxury of knowing we can return to them the next day

Your sponsorship means that we can help hundreds more young people who don't have a bed for the coming night, or are unsure of where they will stay next

Thank you so much for your support,

Jon, James, Omkar, Rachel, Jason, Dan, Baris, James, Becky, Jen, Abby, Neil, Maureen and Beata
