Story

My wonderful Nanna (Beatrice, fondly known as Bea) sadly lost her battle with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) this year. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday 22nd March 2017.

Nanna was a volunteer in St Teresa's Hospice shop for over 10 years and her wish was for donations to St Teresa's Hospice. We would like to thank all of the hospice nurses for their kind support in her final days by raising as much money as we can.

Our challenge is to climb the highest peak in Scotland, England and Wales in one 24 hour period!! Tough Right? We will be starting from Ben Nevis in Scotland at 6am and hopefully completing the climb in 5 hours. Its then straight in the car for a 6 hour drive to Scafell Pike in the Lake District where we will hopefully complete this climb in 4 hours. Then finally back in the car for another 5 hour drive to Snowdon in Wales where we should complete the final peak in 4 hours!! If all goes to plan we should be seeing the sunrise at the top of Snowdon at the end of a gruelling 24 hours! The challenge will take place on 26th October 2017.

This challenge will be fully funded by Jake and myself, including all travel and accommodation, which means 100% of the money raised will go straight to St Teresa's Hospice!

This will be one of the biggest challenges Jake and I have done so far! All training will be posted throughout the next 3 months up until the challenge day. We appreciate every bit of fundraising we get!

Nanna always came to both mine and Jakes sporting events whatever the location throughout the years and enjoyed them thoroughly! Even though Nanna lived 5 hours away she was always keen to know what we were up to with our swimming and how we were getting on and what was our next challenge we were doing!

I was very close to Nanna, we loved our family holidays and trips up to the North! The best was when she would come down for the whole 6 week summer holidays and treat me like royalty, in return we would play games, keep her on her toes and make her laugh!

Our target is to raise £1000 between us but let's try and smash that as much as we can!! Training has commenced and we will be keeping you updated with our progress!

However big or small you would like to donate, all is hugely appreciated!

We are trying to raise as much awareness for COPD as we can. St Teresa's Hospice played a big role in Nanna's life, she would be over the moon that we are carrying on the support in her name.

She is greatly missed by all her family and friends.
