* Abseiling off hotel roof 131 feet up!

My Why:

7 years ago I was burnout.

I thought I was invincible.

Turns out I'm not.

Back to back flights around the world. Extreme adventures. High profile projects. Working all hours. Playing hard. Next to nothing rest. Saying yes to lots of opportunities for fear of missing out.

There was no space. There was no downtime.

I wasn't looking after myself.

We had a kid on the way so I thought I had to work harder (to bring in more money).

I was on a fast treadmill. Going somewhere.

I felt defeated. I felt ashamed. I thought I'd let people down. I thought I'd let myself down.

Having to pause become my breakthrough moment.

We all have mental health.

We all need to be careful.

We all need to treat ourselves and others with kindness.

I was lost. I was lacking in purpose. What was this all for?

In that time of becoming myself again I got back into #running which helped me loads. I was looking after myself again. It gave me time to think about ideas, the future. It allowed me to be creative. It released Good chemicals. It naturally made me feel Good.

Those thoughts led me to step into being more like my Dad and purposely attract more kindness into my life. This led onto starting my kindness project We Make Good Happen (which was life changing)

It allowed me to think what would make a good dad (we had Alby on the way). It got me thinking about what it takes to be a good role model.

For most of my adult life I've tried to go running at least once a week. Last year I made a habit of going 3 times a week.

This also leads me 7 years later to being really proud to be a part of #Project1Million for Bigmoose coffee co (superbly run by Jeff & Chloe Rhian Smith )

100 people each raising £10,000 to collectively raise £1,000,000.

Yes that's a MILLION POUNDS.

They will use this money for therapy to help people with their mental health, prevent #suicide and reduce #homelessness

I'm still thinking of a BIG idea to raise my £10k which I'll do later this year - I'm already running a 10K each day for the whole of January (Jeff Smith from Bigmoose's great idea).

The Project 1 Million story from Bigmoose:

during lockdown we were providing therapy for lots of people and were told by five people that without our intervention they would have ended their lives.due to early and impactful intervention 5 people were still alive.

5 families weren't grieving and the world still had these amazing humans in it. we listened to people's stories & one thing that we kept hearing was that the therapy & intervention that people needed was taking too long and was inaccessible for so many. and so, just like that, project 1 million was born.

throughout 2022 we are aiming to raise £1,000,000 which will be used to provide therapy and early intervention for people.

this is a huge goal and we cannot do it alone. our goal is to help people with their mental health, prevent suicide and reduce homelessness. we will achieve our goal and we will save lives. in 2020, 5224 people killed themselves in england and wales. this project will help to reduce this number. we hope you will join us.
