Often times in sports the term, "The Ringer," refers to a highly skilled player, or a high-stakes competition. To kids suffering from the Cancer, "The Ringer" has a much different meaning. It refers to the bell they get to ring when they hear the magical news that they have successfully beaten cancer.
This year Dan and I were invited to participate in the 4th annual playing of The Ringer. This event is a marathon of golfers who play 100 holes of golf in a single day, hosted by the MACC Fund. Since the MACC Fund’s inception in 1976, over $70,000,000 has been raised and donated for childhood cancer and blood disorder research. This has helped improve cure rates in childhood cancer survivors from 20% to 80% today. While excellent progress, we’re still 20% short which is why this research is critical.
The Ringer competition has raised over $367,000 over the past 3 years, which is why we've raised the stakes with a goal of raising $15,000 as a team. If we're successful in achieving this, then our next step is to lace up for the marathon of 100 holes of golf on April 26th. Any support of yours is appreciated by us, and even more appreciated by the kids you're helping!
Your support plays a KEY role in helping find a CURE once and for all! Learn more about the MACC fund and it's mission by visiting their website at www.maccfund.org
