Story
I will be climbing North Africa's highest mountain in September with my fellow journos and members of Glasgee's asset management group Ignis.
My choice of charity is a no brainer. My dad battled prostate cancer for five years and died in November 2010. When it became impossible for my mum to look after him at home, he was able to spend the last week of his life being looked after at the North Devon Hospice in Barnstaple. His last few days were made comfortable and the amazing people at the hospice gave him the dignity and support that he needed when the time came. More than that, all of the staff looked after the whole family superbly at this very difficult time. I have been back to the hospice since and seen the incredible love and support that they provide for people at the end of their life, as well as to their families.
Oh. And I'd like to add that it will be a tough old trip. But someone's gotta do it....:)
