Story
The charity supports Worthing Hospital and the current goal is raising funds for a new CT scanner. To me this is particularly relevant as my Mum has been in and out of Worthing Hospital over the last five years with a bowel disorder, and one of the things this new CT scanner will do is detect bowel disease earlier.
My Mum is a remarkable lady. She recently turned 90, and despite still being in poor health, she is always cheerful and smiling, and if you were to meet her, you would assume there is nothing wrong with her. I would estimate that Mum has been in various wards at Worthing Hospital for around 18 months over the last 5 years, including one stint of 9 months in one go. She still recieves daily nursing at home, is on a drip for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week, and my Dad, at age 80, is a full time carer for her. I am constantly in awe of the way she's been treated by the Doctors and Nursing staff of Worthing Hospital, and also by the Nursing in the community staff now and this charity fundraising effort is my way of me giving something back and showing my appreciation.
I'm doing the Brighton 1/2 marathon on 17th Feb 2013 with Matt Halksworth who is also supporting the same charity. We have been in training for the last few months and are aiming for a sub 2 hour time!
Please support the cause, it's an important one to me, and thanks in anticipation for all donations.
