Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This year I'm running the Great North Run to help raise money and awareness for those suffering with M.E. and have got my place in the GNR with the charity Action for M.E. Actually, it's my wife Jane's place, but for reasons that will become clear she's now not able to do it.
Jane has suffered with CFS/ME for many years following a bout of Glandular Fever when she was 5 years old. This has got significantly worse throughout her adult life, with relapses becoming more severe and more frequent. In 2017 she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia following an increasing amount of pain, which seriously affects her daily life. She also suffers from a variety of other long-term health conditions, which affect both her physical and mental health.
She has always wanted to do the Great North Run, she felt like this was finally the time and signed up for the GNR soon after the last race. Hopes were dashed when she suffered a big relapse late last year. She had to take a substantial amount of time off work, but despite her employer being amazing and offering huge amounts of support, Jane still isn't back at the job she loves. Unfortunately, there's no sign yet of her health improving enough for her being able to return either.
Thank you very much in advance for your kind donation, it will be put to good use by Action for M.E. in funding research, raising awareness, and providing support to those with the condition.
