Bath Half Marathon 2022 · 16 October 2022 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

During Covid two family members were unfortunately diagnosed with Parkinson's. My brother in law, who has had the courage to set up a new business which is thriving (#hatandhome) and my father in law, who whilst in his 70's is taking each day as it comes and enjoying precious time with the family and grandchildren.

This has given me the motivation to get myself fit and run the Bath half in the hope of raising some funds. Training has not been easy, only started early August and had to initially endure endless spin classes to get some fitness and shift some weight! I have been pounding the streets for a few weeks now and everything just seems a bit slower than it did 10 years ago!

A good quality Sunday lunch has been booked for after the event. I am running with a colleague Ben Savage (raising money for Great Western Air Ambulance) and an old school friend Paul James, had they not been running it would have been easy for me to miss the event and not get through the pain barrier of sore knees. - thanks both.

Finally my dog Buster has been very handy in helping to provide some "serious weight - 25kilos" to lift on my return from the running.
