Story
We are taking part in the Prudential Ride 100 this year in memory of Bethany Grace Hawkins. Bethany is the daughter of Matt. Bethany lost her battle with GBS in 2010 at just 2 days old. We want to raise as much money as we can to help spread awareness of GBS to prevent others suffering.
Myself, my brother Steve and my Cousin Chris have decided to team up for this challenge. Steve has completed cycling events in the past including London to Brighton. Chris has also completed such events including coast to coast and has also completed the London Marathon. I have completed 2 half marathons and the Great South Run, cycling is a new challenge for me!
Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months. On average in the UK, at least-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection -one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
