Story
The Light House Cinema in Wolverhampton has been at the heart of the arts in the local area since 1987!
Since the pandemic, this absolute jewel in Wolverhampton’s crown has fought to stay afloat and the time has come for serious action to save the Light House.
So many people rely on this from community groups, cinema goers, social events, the cobbles market, artists, volunteers as well as the jobs of the staff that fight to keep it open.
As a film maker, I know just how important places like this are to the next generation of film makers and community groups. Without places like the Light House, the arts would simply die, new talents would have nowhere to learn and grow from and the world would be a very difficult place to be without the release the arts gives us. From the escapism of a film, a wander through the art gallery space, a simple coffee and a catch up with friends… the Light House has it all.
With it being 35 years old this year, I’ve decided to cycle 35 miles around the Wolverhampton ring road on Sunday 23rd of October aiming to raise 100 pounds for every mile. With the ring road being a little over 2 miles, it’s 16 laps around…
So I need to start training and make sure I can help raise some funds… any donation you can make in what can only be described as the worst environment to fund raise, is absolutely amazing and before you hit the donate button, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
If you can’t afford to donate now… don’t worry… just stop by for a coffee whilst out shopping, check out a film in the cinema or come and discover all the other amazing things it has to offer.
Thanks so much… wish us luck!
