Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·
Matt Jones, Jack Houghton and Matt Dickens are taking on the biggest challenge of their limited sporting careers by running the London Marathon in aid of the disabled childrens charity KIDS. We have all run a half marathon before, but have never gone all the way.
Kids is a leading UK charity which offers direct and practical help to over 7,000 disabled children and their families. It encourages disabled children and young people to develop their skills and confidence and to enjoy their lives. It provides home learning visits (helping parents acquire skills needed to promote their child's learning and growth); developmental play sessions; adventure playgrounds; specialist nurseries; and short breaks for the child (where they can gain independence and make friends, whilst parents can focus time on their other children).
Some examples of how your money would help include:
£100 pays for a home learner to spend a day with 5 disabled children and their parents learning Makaton sigining
£ 75 pays for a course of swimming lessons for a disabled child
£ 25 pays for a disabled child to visit the theatre
£ 10 will pay for a football at one of the special adventure playgrounds run by KIDS, which provide play facilities for disabled children
We really hope that you can sponsor us in acheiving our running and fund-raising targets.
Thanks, Matt, Jack and Matt
