Story

Hi Folks!

When my youngest son, Edgar, was 2 he was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy. His heart had swollen to be the size of an adult's due to its ineffective left ventricle. As with many parents, we thought our world had caved in with the words uttered by the Professor at Necker Children's Hospital in Paris: "Your child is seriously ill".... We were lucky, Edgar had contracted a virus on his heart and he was treated with drugs over the course of the following weeks and months. The care he received at Necker was exemplary and he made a full recovery and now leads a normal 11 year old boy's life! Our cheeky bundle of love and energy is a testament to the quality of care he received, but we know that the outcome would have been very different had he suffered from a genetic condition. It is for this reason that I am supporting Cardiomyopathy UK, to help the organisation which provides invaluable support and advice to all the families whose lives have been, are being, or will be, affected by any form of heart muscle disease.
