So many people that we know have been deeply affected by cancer, including our eldest daughter and many friends and family.
It’s a cruel and horrible disease that damages and takes lives indiscriminately.
I want to prove that we are stronger than cancer. That it won’t beat us. That we are capable of so much more than we realise and and that Life is there to be lived on our own terms.
So, inspired by my friends who are fighting cancer right now with such courage and grace, and the strength of those who’s lives have already been affected - I’m going to attempt something which I never really believed I would be able to do. Maybe I wont. But I’m so grateful that I have a chance and I’m damn well going to try.
I’m running the Surrey Half Marathon again next year, and then I’m going to follow it up with the full London Marathon. I’m REALLY not a runner, so I’m hoping that by undertaking such a ridiculous challenge , I can send out a message to cancer, if its listening . The message is , frankly, a massive middle finger. We’re strong, we can fight, and we WILL fight.
I’m raising money for Macmillan again. I have so much admiration for the way they fight the fight, and help sufferers find their best way through from the moment of diagnosis, so they’re able to live life as fully as they can. And, I know first hand that the support they offer suffering families is invaluable.
My target is huge! So please, feel free to send a few pence if you can spare - it all helps. And of course , be prepared to put up with a load of
badly made videos on Facebook to promote the fundraising ....
