Story
I have never needed the ambulance service, but it is a sad fact of life that any one of us can be just around the corner from a road traffic accident, a sporting mishap, a life threatening medical emergency, or an accident in the workplace.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance attend on average 3 life threatening calls per day, and can reach anywhere in the county in minutes. The helicopter can then transport the casualty to the most suitable medical facility in a fraction of the time it would take to make the journey by road. All of this means that a person with life threatening injuries can be transported and be in receipt of specialist care in less time than it might take for the traditional ambulance to even attend the scene.
I feel strongly that this incredible lifeline should be sustained at all costs, and fundraising to do so is essential as less than 20% of the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Charitable Trust’s income stems from government.
80% or more is raised by charity events and raffle sales.
Please sponsor my run, hopefully you will never need Helicopter Emergency Medical Service, but should the worst happen, this service could be the difference between life and death!
