Las Vegas Marathon 2013 · 17 November 2013 ·

At Northern Ireland Hospice, we care for more than 4,000 babies, children and adults with life-limiting illnesses, both in Hospice and in the community. We look after every patient's nursing, medical, social, spiritual and emotional needs with support for their family continuing into bereavement.

Story

My story on the Huffington Post website.

I am running the Dublin and Vegas marathons in October and November for the Northern Ireland Hospice and in memory of my dad.

I started off running in 2010 after hitting 20 stone (280 lbs) the year previously.

My father was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010, and for the first time in my life I considered my own mortality. I knew that I was in danger of developing the same type of illness if I kept up with my sedentary lifestyle. I felt helpless about my dad's illness, but I knew I still had an opportunity to do something about my own health.

I continue to run in as many events as I can and fundraise where I can for the Hospice.

Your donations are greatly appreciated!

P.S. I update my progress regularly over on my running blog!
