Story
This World Mental Health Day, I am taking on the adrenalin rush of a lifetime and skydiving from 15,000 feet (the highest you can do in the UK without an oxygen tank!) and freefalling for over 60 seconds! All to raise funds and awareness for better mental health in Cornwall so that no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
According to latest figures, the prevalence of mental health disorders (such as depression, anxiety and phobias) in the South West is one of the highest in the Country! With over one in four people experiencing a mental health problem in Cornwall the need for good quality mental health support, advice and information is vital.
As an independent local charity, Cornwall Mind works hard to support the people of Cornwall who need help with their mental health, as well as campaigning to increase the awareness and understanding of mental health across the country. Their vision is that they won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect!
Working in education and mental health, I have seen first hand the vital work and services they offer and what a difference they can make to people. Doing what I can to help others is a subject close to my heart.
All the raised stays in the county and goes directly into support for people who are struggling. Every penny counts! So please donate whatever you can to support their amazing and important work, and see me jump out of a plane at 15,000 feet!
