Isle of Wight Challenge 2019 · 4 May 2019 to 5 May 2019 ·

Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. But too many people miss out on this essential care. Hospice UK fights for hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever.

Story

I'm fundraising for Hospice UK by taking part in the Isle of Wight challenge. This will require me to cover a distance of 106 km around the island on 4th May 2019 ... roughly the equivalent of two and a half full marathons.

Hospices help terminally ill adults and children live life to the full, whatever time they have left. A number of close friends and family have been cared for by this organisation and it has been close to the heart of my family for many years now.

My Nana passed away in 1996 at Garden House Hospice in Letchworth where my Mum was a volunteer for 11 years. Many people who read this will have experienced their loved ones being looked after by this amazing charity and the people who work there.

Mum continues to volunteer and has worked at the Sue Ryder Leckhampton Hospice in Gloucestershire since 2003.

It would be fantastic to raise as much money as possible - running around the IOW is an amazing mental (and physical) challenge and is my way of giving a little bit back to an organisation that does some incredible work and has had such a positive and compassionate effect on all of my family and many of our friends.

Thank you so much for your support.
