Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page and allowing us to share our story with you.
Emily and Matt will be running the Manchester Marathon in April 2023 to raise funds for MacMillan, the world-renowned cancer charity, in their fight to find a cure for the disease.
The reason we have chosen MacMillan is that in late 2021, Emily’s grandfather and my Dad, Michael Payne – the greatest man we know – was diagnosed with an aggressive form of bladder cancer.
Michael “The Judge” Payne has worked tirelessly throughout his whole life to help people less fortunate than him, as a Child care Lawyer then a District Judge. This has continued into his retirement as he was still working as a volunteer counselor on a support line that helps vulnerable people right until the end. The man is a legend and our absolute hero. We have chosen to run Manchester as it is the City he was born and raised in and where he would regularly travel up to in order to visit Old Trafford and watch his beloved Manchester United.
Our combined target is £800 and any contribution you can make would be greatly appreciated, you can find out more about the great work MacMillan do here: - https://www.macmillan.org.uk/
Michael John Payne died on December 29th 2022.
