We're moving to Mbale, Uganda in June for 10 months. We can't wait for what will be an incredible challenge.

We'll both be volunteering full time to help the local community - Laura will work for both the local church and fantastic social action charity JENGA, meanwhile Matt will work as a surgical registrar in the local hospital.

We're raising money to purchase desperately needed surgical instruments and to support the outstanding work of JENGA.

Much of the equipment the hospital currently has is old, rusty or broken. Moreover they have very little of it, meaning life-saving operations are delayed or cancelled while waiting for vital instruments to be sterilised. 

A little goes a long way in Uganda - if we reach our ambitious total of £2000 then we could buy four new equipment sets (for operations Caesarean section or hernia repair) and make a generous contribution to JENGAs work (see http://jengauganda.org/projects)
