Story
After one deferral (and you’re not allowed another...) two knee arthroscopies (always have an excuse...) and a lot of chat (which I rather regret...) I’m planning to be on the start line for the London Marathon on 17 April. Some of you will know it’s taken quite a lot of work to get this far but my knee is holding up and the great news is that with a ballot place, I can choose which charity to run for – and so I’m running for the Jennie Marsh Trust. In 2004 our friends Nick & Jennie Marsh were involved in a car accident in Mozambique and, tragically, Jen died from her injuries, aged 26. The Jennie Marsh Trust was established in her memory and works to support a number of grass-roots projects, in sub-Saharan Africa and also closer to home in the UK. For example, in South Africa, the Trust supports a church-based project in the Cape Flats area outside Cape Town, providing care for abandoned or ‘at risk’ children, whilst here in the UK it helps fund a bursary scheme that enables kids from deprived areas to come on a Christians in Sport summer camp which I’m involved in leading. We miss Jen very much – but I’m really chuffed to be running in her memory. Thank you for your support!
